The ANC’s National Working Committee meeting ended Monday in the defeat of Zuma’s supporters and the NWC deciding to hold an emergency NEC meeting on Wednesday in Cape Town to decide Zuma’s fate.
A picket aimed at forcing President Jacob Zuma to step down is expected to take place at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday morning.
ANC member in Gauteng and convener of the #ZumaMustGoMarch, Lazarus Maumela says they’re planning to camp on the lawns of the Union Buildings until Zuma resigns.
He says they’re also expecting some ANC members from the Mpumalanga and Limpopo to join the picket.
Maumela says the organisation has lost confidence in Zuma and some of the cabinet ministers aligned to him.
“We have lost confidence in him. We don’t think he’s the right person to take us to where we wanted as a county, so we are saying to the President, the President should go and his team of ministers that seek to benefit with the corruption they are doing. So we are saying that were going to save the ANC from these group of thugs. This things is real, we’re really tried of this man.
