CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE SONA DEBATE
Deidre Carter MP, 15 February 2017
What we are faced with in South Africa, is an incumbent at WAR with his own country, aided and abetted by a corrupt elite, and his corrupted and captured Party!
At war with our Constitution;
At war with the Rule of Law;
At war with the organs of government;
At war with Members of his own Cabinet;
At war with Parliament;
At war with our Institutions Supporting Constitutional Democracy;
At war with our Judiciary;
At war with our Economy;
At war with our Business Sector;
At war with the Media; and ultimately,
At war with us, the People!!
All for him, his family, cronies and the ANC’s benefit – and to the detriment of our beloved Country.
A President who has BROKEN HIS OATH OF OFFICE and lost the right to govern;
An executive, that is complicit with their master and who BROKE THEIR OATHS OF OFFICE
A Parliament that has failed, through the tyranny of an ANC majority, to uphold its Constitutional duties and responsibilities – who BROKE THEIR OATHS OF OFFICE –
and lost its credibility and legitimacy.
The Congress of the People refuses to be complicit in BREAKING OUR OATHS OF OFFICE by being part of these SERIOUS VIOLATIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION
COPE is not prepared to legitimize the continued occupation of the office of President, by Mr. Zuma, and we will accordingly not respond directly to his address.
7 May this year marks the third year of this the 5 th Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.
Section 49, read with section 50 of the Constitution, allows for the dissolution of the National Assembly by resolution, provided that three years have lapsed since the assembly was elected.
COPE calls for the disbandment of Parliament and fresh elections.
COPE makes this call to enable South Africans to elect reliable, accountable, incorruptible, ethical and honorable women and men, who are committed to serving our country – in keeping with the values and principles that underpin the supreme law of our land, our Constitution.
History, according to the late Eduardo Galeano, never says ‘goodbye’. History says, ‘see you later’.
In Shakespeare’s tragedy, ‘Caesar’, Cassius, tries to persuade Brutus to stop Caesar from becoming the emperor – an act he thinks is in the best interest of the country – and says to Brutus:
“The fault dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves”.
The fault, dear fellow South African citizens, is not in our stars, but in ourselves!!!
The reason that we, as a nation, find ourselves in the morass that we are in …. being held to ransom in our own country ….. , is not a matter of fate!!! … but, because we haven’t done anything about it!!
The time has come, dear fellow citizens, for us to form a coalition ….. A UNITED FRONT….. A UNITED FRONT of patriotic:
Citizens; Civil Society Organisations; and Political Parties to SAVE SOUTH AFRICA.
It’s time for all of us to defend our Constitution;
It’s time to insist that Mr Zuma vacates the Presidency;
It’s time to insist on the dissolution of Parliament;
It’s time to hold fresh elections – and to elect honourable women and men to Parliament who are committed to putting our country first!
IT’S TIME FOR EACH AND EVERYONE OF US TO STAND UP AND COMMIT TO:
PONISA SOUTH AFRICA!
VIKELA ISEWULA AFRIKA!
VIKELA ININGIZIMU AFRICA!
BOLOKA AFRICA BORWA!
HLAKODISA AFRIKA BORWA!
TSIRELEDZANI AFRIKA TSHIPEMBE!
RED SUID AFRIKA!
SAVE SOUTH AFRICA!!!
The Congress of the People reiterates it’s refusal to be complicit in BREAKING OUR OATHS OF OFFICE by being part of these SERIOUS VIOLATIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION
We will NOT legitimize the continued occupation of the office of President, by Mr. Zuma, and we will accordingly not participate when he addresses this Parliament!
I Thank You
