The SABC owes six creditors more than half a billion rand with
signal distributor Sentech owed the largest chunk.
SABC Spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says the public broadcaster aims to lead in the production of news across South Africa and that changes are expected on the SABC 24 hour news channel (DStv 404) and on Radio SAfm.
“In as far as SAfm is concerned, we are changing the way it does business. We are moving away being a news-governed kind of content to a talk show.”
The new SABC board is also seeking legal council on which of its staff should be vetted.
