There are cats, and then there are cats! Here are a few that have achieved more than most, with some help.
Some opted for mayoral positions:
STUBBS was Honorary Mayor of Talkeetna, a historic district in Alaska for 15 years. He lived at the General Store and was a drawcard for tourists.
MORRIS stood in the Mayoral election of Xalapa, Mexico; although he was the most popular candidate it appears his votes were discarded.
TUXEDO STAN, representing the Tuxedo Party, ran for mayor in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with the aim of improving the welfare of cats. Sadly, he wasn’t elected, and died of cancer a year later
Others looked for more political positions:
HANK, a Maine Coon cat from Northern Virginia, ran for a seat in the Senate; he came third and raised a large amount for animal welfare.
MORRIS, the 9 Lives Cat Food Mascot, ran for President of the USA three times – imagine the difference if he had won!
LIMBERBUTT McCUBBINS, registered as a Democrat candidate, also ran for President of the USA.
In England, CATMANDO served as joint leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.
